Just before covid-lockdown Damkapellet held a mini-festival celebrating international women’s day and the opening of our residency at KoncertKirken, Copenhagen. We spent a whole week exploring togetherness and collective connecting by creating a modern ceremony together with composer Guusje Ingen Housz. I feel so lucky that we got to have that week but it also feels extremely far away to be able to work that close again with a group in this new situation. How can we find new ways of connecting today when we can’t be physically close, except through screens?

For three weeks in February I traveled in California to meet musicians that I’m so thankful for I got to do before the lockdown. First week I spent with Halvcirkel to work and meet with Terry Riley and David Harrington from Kronos Quartet. There where so much sharing, sharing of knowledge, sharing, sharing. That’s what I love the most with music that it’s an old tradition of sharing songs and knowledge further to new generations and you can never stop learning.
