Mika Persdotter is a Swedish violist, improviser and songwriter based in Copenhagen. She is an experimental musician with a classical background and passion for exploring new sounds and expressions. Working as a freelance musician in the fields of baroque music, contemporary music and free improvised music.
Currently focussing on her solo-project Mika Akim she is also an active member of the string quartet Halvcirkel, music collective Damkapellet as well as the improvisation groups Crush String Collective and Stök.
In 2016 Mika founded the musician collective Damkapellet by gathering female musicians in Copenhagen with a classical background. The collective works for equality in the music scene by highlighting female and non-binary composers from all times. Constantly rethinking the format of the classical ensemble and experimenting with how to work in a group democratically without hierarchies and power-structures.
